“Albanians have confidence in banks!” RCC: We are ranked among the countries with the highest trust. Serbia, skeptical

Despite perceptions about Albanians' relationships with banks, recent Balkan Barometer data provides an interesting picture.
Albania appears to display a high level of trust in the country’s banks, according to the Balkan Barometer Public Opinion Survey for 2025. According to the data, around 47% of Albanian respondents reported “great trust” in the banking system, while 30% expressed considerable trust. Only 10% of citizens said they had no trust at all, indicating a stable climate of trust in financial institutions.
When compared to other Western Balkan countries, Albania ranks among the countries with positive performance. North Macedonia has a slightly higher rate with 52% of respondents indicating great trust. Kosovo has a similar average to Albania with 45% expressing great trust.
On the other hand, countries such as Serbia and Montenegro reported lower levels of trust, while Bosnia and Herzegovina displays a different profile, with the majority of citizens having moderate trust. This comparison shows that Albania remains among the most trusted countries in the region regarding the banking system, reflecting considerable stability and trustworthiness for citizens.
The 2025 edition of the Balkan Barometer Public Opinion Survey was conducted using a quantitative research approach and consisted of a total of 39 questions, including demographic questions. The Public Opinion Survey was conducted with at least N=1,000 respondents aged 18+ in each of the BP6 economies, with a total of 6,012 respondents for the entire Western Balkans region.
