Around 9 million foreigners entered Albania/ 8 months, European tourism dominates. Business visits increase

According to the latest data published by the Institute of Statistics, the month of August brought a high influx of arrivals from the territory of Albania. During this month, around 3.36 million citizens entered the country, which shows an increase of 8.4% compared to August last year. Of the total arrivals, around 986 thousand were Albanians, with an increase of 5.1%, while the largest part, approximately 2.38 million, belongs to foreign citizens, who have marked an increase of 9.9% compared to August 2024.
On the other hand, departures from the territory have also marked a significant increase during August. According to statistics, around 3.33 million citizens have left Albania, representing an increase of 12.1% compared to the same period last year. Within this number, 994 thousand have been Albanians, with an increase of 10.3%, while 2.3 million have been foreigners, registering an even higher increase of 12.8%.
If we refer to the entire 8-month period of the year, the figures are even more significant. In total, Albania recorded around 8.96 million arrivals, an increase of 5.2% compared to the same period last year. The vast majority of foreign arrivals were generated by the European region, with a full 97% of the total number. Within this continent, Southern Europe dominates, accounting for 77% of foreign arrivals, followed by Western Europe with 9% and Central and Eastern Europe with 8%.
Regarding the reasons for travel, the figures show that the majority of citizens, a full 99%, entered Albania for personal reasons, which include holidays, family visits or other similar activities. However, it is worth noting that the entries of foreigners for business reasons have experienced a significant increase of 23.3%, signaling the growing interest of foreign investors and entrepreneurs to explore the opportunities that the country offers.
