What became more expensive for Albanian families in August? Inflation reached

Inflation in August of this year appears lower than in July, which reached the highest rate recorded throughout 2025. The summer months, especially influenced by tourism and demand, had a higher price increase rate.

The Consumer Price Index for August 2025 reached 119.5, recording an increase of 2.3%, compared to the same period last year.

The annual price increase was driven mainly by food and non-alcoholic beverages, which contributed more than half of the total change. Within this group, oils and fats increased by 6.5%, milk, cheese and eggs by 3.6% and meat by 3.2%. The rent, water, fuel and energy group also contributed significantly, with an annual increase of 3.1%, due to global energy prices and higher operating costs.

The tourism and related services sector had a particular impact on the monthly price increase. Prices of hotels, cafes and restaurants increased by 2.2% compared to August last year, due to the influx of tourists during the summer season. Entertainment and culture increased by 6.3%, reflecting not only tourist spending, but also increased costs for cultural and recreational activities within the country.

Prices of furniture and household appliances, alcoholic beverages and tobacco, and transport and communication services contributed more moderately to the increase in the index. Monthly changes showed a larger increase in energy, entertainment and tourism services, reflecting the impact of the summer season and pressure from high tourist demand.
