Greece introduces new tax scheme/ Which groups benefit most from the new

The Greek government has announced a new tax scheme that will benefit millions of taxpayers, with the amount varying significantly depending on income and family status. Some people will see tax cuts of thousands of euros, while others will not benefit at all.

The biggest beneficiaries

At the top of the list are families with many children. For an employee with four children, the benefit amounts to 5,300 euros with an income of 75,000 euros. While for 50,000 euros of income, the tax reduction amounts to 4,800 euros and for a salary of 30,000 euros the benefit is 4,100 euros. In addition to the reduction in tax rates, we also practically have an increase in the unpaid amount of up to 20,000 euros for families with four children.

In second place are families with three children. For incomes of 75,000 euros, the benefit reaches 3,300 euros, while for salaries of 50,000 euros, up to 2,800 euros. For incomes of 30,000 euros, the benefit is smaller, but still noticeable, at 2,100 euros. Third in the ranking are workers with two children. For salaries of 75,000 euros, the benefit is 2,400 euros and for those of 50,000 euros it goes to 1,900 euros.

Then come families with one child, who also receive significant relief, including salaries of up to 30,000 euros.

Smaller profits

At the bottom of the list are employees without children. For salaries up to 75,000 euros, the benefit is limited to 1,600 euros, while up to 50,000 euros the reduction is 1,100 euros. Meanwhile, people with salaries up to 20,000 euros will receive only 200 euros.

Who benefits nothing

There are also categories that have not undergone any changes. Single people with incomes up to 10,000 euros will continue to pay the same amount of tax, only 123 euros. For those with one child, the exemption of up to 10,000 euros remains unchanged, without additional benefit. The same applies to families with two children with incomes up to 11,000 euros, for those with three children up to 12,000 euros and those with four children up to 20,000 euros.

The reform clearly defines the winners and the “neutrals”. No one loses, but the benefits vary spectacularly: from a few hundred euros for the lowest incomes to over 5,000 euros per year for the largest, highest-income families. The beneficiaries will be around four million, while around five million will not be affected by the measure.
