How satisfied are teachers with their salary? - Study: About 79% agree with employment conditions, exceeding the OECD average
The majority of teachers in Albania are satisfied with their employment conditions, exceeding even the average of OECD countries. According to a study conducted by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), about 79% of teachers “agree” or “strongly agree” that they are satisfied with their employment conditions, higher than the OECD average of 68%.
Regarding salary specifically, about 36% of teachers “agree” or “strongly agree” that they are satisfied with their salaries, similar to the OECD average of 39%.
In Albania, the most common sources of stress for teachers are being responsible for student achievement with 49%, being responsible for students' social and emotional well-being with 35%, and 33% report maintaining classroom discipline.
On the other hand, many schools were forced to develop online or hybrid learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, some schools have maintained these methods, the study says. In Albania, 10% of teachers work in schools where at least one lesson was taught as hybrid or online in the last month. OECD countries develop more blended or online learning.
Teachers in Albania use artificial intelligence more than any other country in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. This is not surprising, considering that the government has developed a strategy for implementing artificial intelligence in a number of sectors. About 52% of teachers report that they have used artificial intelligence (AI) in their work. Teachers tend to use AI to help students practice new skills in real-life scenarios, generate lesson plans or activities, and effectively teach and summarize a topic.
Less common uses of artificial intelligence are to support students with special educational needs, generate text for student feedback or parent/guardian communications, and assess student work.
