Mountain Package, priority areas in 7 municipalities approved

The Minister of State for Local Government, Ervin Demo, announced today that the government has approved priority areas in seven municipalities within the framework of the Mountain Package.
During a media conference, Demo emphasized that priority areas have been approved in "the municipalities of Mirditë, Kavajë, Durrës, Vlorë, Berat, Dimal and Librazhd", which according to the minister "are ready to continue with the procedures in terms of addressing the requests that residents have, in terms of the benefits that come from the Mountain Package".
Demo said that "municipalities that already have priority areas approved are in the phase of publishing all requests, which have passed the control filters of the municipalities themselves."
According to him, the 45-day deadlines are running out and after the deadlines are exhausted, "we will have approval from the municipal councils, from the municipalities themselves, regarding successful applications."
"The Mountain Package is moving at a considerable speed, considering that we have already passed over half of the municipalities through priority zones and we will continue in the coming weeks to approve priority zones for the municipalities that still remain and are being treated as priority zones," said Demo.
Asked about the Special Commission for Territorial Reform, Demo said that it is important to create the right approach so that we have stronger municipalities tomorrow.
He expressed confidence that the commission will do its job and added that "the majority has the irresponsibility to offer solutions and advance the reform."
"We are also very open to this being a reform that includes all parties and the special commission accomplishing this," he said.
