Production in difficulty, only construction growing/ The biggest contraction in economic activity affected industry

While the services sector continued to grow in the fourth quarter of 2025, goods producers performed weaker, reflecting an uneven pace of economic development in the country.
The data show that industry and energy have exerted negative pressure on the sector. Industry recorded a decrease in net sales by 2.0% and production by 0.5%, while employment and the wage bill fell by 2.3% and 1.8%, respectively. An even sharper decline was recorded in energy, where net sales contracted by 10.0%, although production increased by 5.9%, signaling a mismatch between supply and demand in this sector.
In contrast, other sectors have maintained a positive contribution. Water supply and waste management recorded an increase in sales by 7.0% and production by 4.5%, although employment in this activity fell by 2.4%. Construction continues to be among the most dynamic sectors, with sales increasing by 3.1%, production by 2.6% and employment by 5.9%, reflecting the continuation of investments in this area.
On a broader level, developments show an economy that is increasingly oriented towards services and becoming less productive.
Short-term statistics show that economic growth at the end of 2025 relies more on service sectors, while the manufacturing base remains more fragile and at more unstable rates.
