Price ceiling for fuels? - Karakaçi: We are monitoring the market, we

The current increase in oil prices in Albania is not yet considered problematic enough to warrant intervention in the market. The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enea Karakaçi, stressed that intervention in the circulation tax is not a solution.

According to him, the market is being continuously monitored and a decision will then be made whether to reinstate the Transparency Board.

"We are following up with all interest groups, we are dynamically following the fuel market, there are definitely different models, what we have decided is to set a ceiling price if the Transparency Board resumes its function, but a decision has not been made yet."

According to the Minister, Albania will not have problems with oil supply due to the Strait of Hormuz.

"We are looking at it in dynamics, because the product today has two elements that are seen in times of crisis. The first is whether there is a shortage in the market and from the information we have, the Strait of Hormuz does not pose a supply problem, because over 90 percent of the supply comes from other routes. The establishment of the transparency board has not yet been decided."

The government approved at its next meeting the decision for a financing agreement with the EBRD and OSHEE, guaranteed by a sovereign guarantee from the Ministry of Finance, for the financing of the Center Substation in Tirana.

This agreement is considered very important for the continuation of the security of supply of the city of Tirana and to respond to the pace of development.
