Rapid flood relief, Germany provides funding for 400 families in Durrës

Following the severe flooding of the past weeks, the Start Fund, supported by Germany, has made £250,000 immediately available to the NGO World Vision UK. The funding will go to support 400 families (around 1,800 people) in the most affected regions of Albania – including Durrës (Sukth, Katund i Ri, Kënetë, Rrashbull, Porto Romano and Shkozet). The measures include sanitation and hygiene assistance, emergency shelter and non-food items, food security measures and essential necessities.
Meanwhile, through the development of early warning systems, GIZ's ALBAdapt project is contributing to ensuring that extreme weather events can be better predicted in the future, enabling people to take preventive measures.
