LIS, the land application, Salla: Helps farmers control costs and increase production
An application called LIS has been put into use by the country's farmers.
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Andis Salla, presented in Roskovec the new LIS application, the Land Information System, which allows farmers to access information on the characteristics and needs of their land directly from their phone and free of charge.
During the visit to Roskovec, at the 7-acre pomegranate plantation of farmer Agron Gega, Minister Salla specifically demonstrated how farmers can use the system to obtain the necessary information about land, cultivation, and the more efficient use of fertilizers and agricultural inputs.
"Today, thanks to the application and system we have built, we have digitized and put agricultural land data into the system, so that farmers can access and receive all the information via phone," said Salla.
LIS aims to help farmers avoid unnecessary expenses and reduce production costs, by using agricultural inputs more efficiently, as well as create the conditions for improving yield and quality of production.
Minister Salla called on farmers to use the system through QTTBs, describing it as a practical instrument that brings information about agricultural land directly into the hands of the farmer.
"I call on all farmers to have access to the Land Information System, through the QTTB, to have the right information about agricultural land and its analyses," concluded Salla.
