Klodiana Spahiu has been proposed for the position of Minister of Health and Social Welfare, with the aim of strengthening access to health services and social welfare policies.
Spahiu is a cardiologist with a long career in the healthcare system, academically and managerially. She completed her studies at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Tirana in 1997 and then specialized in cardiology at the "Mother Teresa" University Hospital.
During her career, she has completed several specializations in Italy, in the field of non-invasive and invasive cardiology, including echocardiography, carotid echo-doppler and cardiac catheterization. In 2012–2014, she also completed a professional master's degree in health management.
Spahiu practiced as a doctor at the First Cardiology Clinic at the University Hospital of Tirana, and from 2003 to 2009 she worked as a cardiologist and in the pathology department at Durrës Hospital. She was later appointed director of this hospital.
In parallel with her clinical activity, Spahiu has also had a long engagement in the academic field. She has been a lecturer in the Department of Preclinical Studies at the University of Tirana, an external lecturer in the subject of physiology and then a lecturer in cardiology practices at the “Zonja e Kështil të Mirë” University.
Klodiana Spahiu holds the title of "Doctor of Medical Sciences" and, if the proposal is approved, will take over the leadership of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
