Do Albanian entrepreneurs know how to track European funds? - Sefa: Very few businesses access and manage EU funding

The allocation of funds from the European Union aims to help Albanian businesses raise standards and adapt to the European market. But how prepared are these businesses to pursue and take advantage of these opportunities?
Ergis Sefa, Economic Expert: "Unfortunately, this is not the case at all, because the number of businesses that have had the opportunity to both access EU funds and manage them can be counted on the fingers. But this is the future and it is something that must be taken very seriously."
However, distributing guidelines and funds is not enough. To have concrete results on the ground, mentoring, assistance and close cooperation with businesses are needed. But what are the main obstacles that keep Albanian businesses away from the European market?
"First of all, I would say it's the mindset, what we call mentality. The fact that they don't yet understand that a big wave is coming, both in terms of difficulty and opportunity, and secondly, the relationship they have with quality and investment. Mostly, Albanian businesses don't invest in quality or in the long term. And above all, it's the way we treat and treat human capital, the staff they have. They don't invest much in professionalizing their staff, so that they have people with very good skills who can then compete more easily and more worthily in the European market."
Without greater preparation and investment in quality, Albanian businesses risk missing out on the opportunities offered by the European Union. Mentoring, assistance and a proactive approach are the keys to successfully integrating into the European market and using funds effectively.
