Energy, new distribution tariffs - ERE approves the decision, keeps them

The Energy Regulatory Authority has decided to leave the current electricity distribution service tariffs in force until April 2026, making no changes to the tariff structure for the next 4 months.

Distribution tariffs are a key component of the final price of electricity and are applied in a differentiated manner according to the voltage level at which consumers are connected to the grid. They range from tariffs for low-voltage consumers (0.4 kV), which include households and small businesses, to tariffs for medium-voltage consumers (6, 10, 20 and 35 kV), where mainly large businesses and industrial consumers operate.

For businesses in the free energy market, distribution tariffs constitute a significant item on the monthly bill, as they are added to the price of energy purchased from private suppliers, the transmission tariff and other regulatory costs. In this context, maintaining the existing tariffs in force creates predictability of the costs paid for energy. The ERE decision avoids an immediate increase in costs for businesses, especially for manufacturing enterprises and services with high energy consumption, which are more exposed to tariff changes in the network.

According to the tariffs in force, for customers connected to 35 KV voltage, the tariff is 1.55 lek/kWh, while for subscribers connected to 20, 10 and 6 KV voltage, a tariff of 3.99 lek/kWh is applied.

Distribution tariffs cover the costs of operating and maintaining the electricity network, investments in infrastructure, as well as guaranteeing the security and quality of supply, being a fundamental element in the functioning of the entire energy chain.
