85 million euros from salaries in August alone/ Contributions and income tax exceed plan
Albanian citizens paid 85 million euros in income tax in August alone.
According to preliminary data from the tax administration, revenues in August increased by 33.4 percent compared to the planning made for this period.
Compared to July, the increase is around 11 million euros.
On the other hand, 140 million euros were collected from social security contributions during August, 12.2% more than planned.
According to taxes, the increase in income from insurance and TAP in 2025 shows that businesses are reflecting on formalization and responding to legal obligations.
The anti-informality campaign undertaken by the government regarding under-declaration of salaries had an impact on performance, causing over 9,000 businesses to react in the first phase by declaring their employees' salaries higher. The campaign then continued with a second round for those businesses that had not reacted.
On the other hand, the establishment of reference salaries in tourism throughout this year seems to have significantly influenced the increase in payments declared by businesses in this sector during the season, thus leading to an increase in paid obligations.
Also, the increase in the number of contributors to the insurance scheme, mainly in private entities, which may have also come from the anti-informism campaign, has brought better performance.
Over the last two years, a salary increase reform has been undertaken in the public administration, where the average salary exceeded 900 euros, causing the tax paid on the salary they receive and social security to be higher.
The increase in revenue in the contribution scheme is positive as it improves its performance and significantly reduces the deficit and subsidy provided by the state budget for this purpose.
