379 million euros from consumption and wages in October - 10-month period, tax

Autumn has entered with a "good start" in terms of budget revenues collected by the tax administration, mainly as a result of increased consumption and payroll taxation.

In October, tax revenues were recorded at 37.9 billion lek or about 379 million euros, exceeding by about 13.1% compared to the same month a year earlier.

This figure has continued the positive trend of the summer months, where despite the fact that the summer season and the effect of mass tourism are no longer present, it still shows high consumption, given that the main weight in income and growth is taken by the Value Added Tax.

In September, revenues were recorded at 392 million euros, while in August they were 385 million euros.

Referring to official data from the General Directorate of Taxes, for the 10-month period, tax revenues are recorded at 379 billion lek, increasing by 12.1% compared to January-October 2024.

Tax revenues include revenues from domestic net VAT, profit tax, personal income tax, and national taxes, which have had positive performance throughout the year.

The main factors of revenue growth are related to economic growth, higher business activity and increased consumption, which is reflected in domestic VAT and profit tax.

Personal income tax is another item with a significant weight in tax revenues, which reflects the increased salaries of the administration and the private sector as well as the positive effects that the anti-informality reform has had in this regard. The campaign for electronic invoicing and numerous field controls have contributed to the formalization and increase in tax revenues. Also, the declaration and payment of DIVA obligations by employees in the country have influenced this performance.

Revenues from special funds, social and health insurance, collected by the Tax Administration, have seen a significant increase month after month, which also reflects the wage increase reform and the one against their under-declaration.

While with the increase in the minimum wage from January 1, 2026 to 50 thousand lek, a significant increase in income from contributions and payroll taxes is also expected.
