Polish, the most effective language for communicating with “AI” - Study: English ranks sixth. Chinese language “disappoints”
Out of 26 different languages, Polish turns out to be the most effective for commanding artificial intelligence models, while English ranks only sixth, according to a study by the University of Maryland and Microsoft.
"Our experiment yielded some surprising results. First, English did not perform better in all models; in fact, it ranked sixth out of 26 languages when long texts were evaluated, while Polish turns out to be the leading language in this respect," the authors' report states.
A team of researchers tested how leading artificial intelligence models, including OpenAI, Google Gemini, Qwen, Llama, and DeepSeek, responded to the same instructions in many different languages. The results showed that Polish had an average accuracy of 88% in completing the tasks.
"According to the analysis, this is the most accurate language for giving commands to artificial intelligence. Until now, Polish was widely considered one of the most difficult languages to learn. It turns out that people have difficulties with it, but not artificial intelligence," Polish sources announced.
The new technology systems understood the Polish language very well, even though the corpus of data in this language is significantly more limited than that in English or Chinese.
On the other hand, Chinese performed poorly, coming in fourth from bottom out of the 26 languages tested. French came in second with 87%, followed by Italian with 86% and Spanish with 85%. Russian followed with 84% accuracy, while English came in sixth with 83.9%.
