Trump suspends US DV1 lottery - Decision, after shooting at Brown University

US President Donald Trump has decided to suspend the Green Card lottery scheme, following the mass shooting at Brown University, where two people were killed and several others were injured.
The decision was confirmed by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who stated that the suspension of the program was made at the order of President Trump, in order to ensure that “no American is harmed by this disastrous program.” Secretary Noem said she has instructed Citizenship and Immigration Services to suspend the DV1 program.
“Brown University shooter Claudio Manuel Neves Valente entered the United States through the Diversity Visa Lottery (DV1) program in 2017 and was granted a green card. This despicable individual should never have been allowed into our country.
In 2017, President Trump fought to end this program, following the truck rampage in NYC by an ISIS terrorist who entered the US under the DV1 program, killing eight people. "At the behest of President Trump, I am immediately directing U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to halt the DV1 program to ensure that no other Americans are harmed by this disastrous program," Noem announced on social media.
Noem made the comments after officials said the suspect in last weekend's mass shooting at Brown University, identified as Portuguese national Claudio Neves Valente, had died. The DV1 Immigrant Visa Program offers up to 50,000 visas each year from countries with low levels of immigration to the United States through a random selection process.
