Commercial flights remain one of the main pillars of tourism development and international mobility. In this regard, Albania has recorded an exceptional performance during 2025, ranking as the country with the highest growth in commercial flights on the continent, compared to the pre-pandemic period.

According to official data from Eurostat, during 2025 the average annual growth of commercial flights in Albania reached 148.6%, reflecting a strong recovery of the aviation sector and a growing demand for travel to the country. The peak of this growth was marked in October, where flights recorded a record increase of 173.3% compared to the same period before the pandemic.

December has also continued with positive results. Compared to the pre-pandemic December, commercial flights in Albania have marked an increase of 106.8%, confirming that the positive trend has continued at the end of the year. With these results, Albania not only leads the region, but also ranks first at the European level in terms of the increase in commercial flights.

Compared to other countries in the region, Albania is followed by Bosnia & Herzegovina, which has been among the 10 countries with the highest annual growth. For the month of December, this country has recorded an increase of 50.8%. Next comes Serbia with an increase of 42.3%, followed by North Macedonia with 28.8%.

Contrary to these positive trends, Montenegro has seen a decline in commercial flights. Specifically, a 6.5% decrease was recorded during December, indicating a slowdown in air activity, mainly related to seasonal factors and changes in tourist demand.

As for European countries with high growth, in addition to Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus has also recorded positive results with an increase of 43%, followed by Greece and Slovakia, which have benefited from the strengthening of tourism and the expansion of airlines.

On the other hand, the countries that have suffered the largest decrease in flights during the year are mainly the Nordic ones, such as Finland, Sweden and Norway, where climatic factors and changes in demand have had a significant impact. Meanwhile, for the month of December, the most pronounced decline was recorded by Latvia with 25.6%, followed by Sweden and Germany.

These data confirm that Albania is increasingly consolidating as an important air hub in the region, reflecting increased tourist interest, expanded flight offer and an increasingly strong positioning on the European travel map.
