Prices "soften" in November/ Inflation at 2.1%, but rent remains

It seems that goods and services in the country cost us less in November, according to INSTAT data. Based on the figures, the annual change in the Consumer Price Index was 2.1%, slightly higher than a year ago when it was 2.0%, but lower than in October. The monthly change, compared to October 2025, marked a slight decrease of 0.2%.

The annual price increase was mainly influenced by the group “Rent, water, fuel and energy”, which contributed with 0.81 percentage points. Following it, the group “Food and non-alcoholic beverages” brought an impact of 0.51 percentage points. The groups “Furniture, household equipment and home maintenance”, “Alcoholic beverages and tobacco”, and “Hotels, cafes and restaurants” also made a positive contribution. Other groups, such as educational services, entertainment and culture, transport, communication, as well as clothing, footwear and health, had smaller impacts.

Compared to November 2024, the group "Rent, water, fuel and energy" also recorded the highest annual growth of 4.0%, while alcoholic beverages and tobacco increased by 2.9%, and furniture and household appliances by 2.8%. In the food sector, significant growth was seen in milk, cheese and eggs by 4.9%, oils and fats by 4.6% and fish by 3.3.

The analysis of changes clearly shows that housing and energy costs remain the main factors influencing consumer prices in Albania, directly impacting the family budget and daily expenses.
