Farmer from Maqellara, with 800 beehives - Production increases, in 2025 over 3500 hives were subsidized
Honey production in the country is increasing significantly from year to year, where support measures from the National Scheme have also had an effect.
In 2024, over 587 thousand beehives and around 5940 tons of honey were registered, with an increase of 5.5 percent compared to the previous year. While over 3500 beehives were subsidized throughout 2025.
One of the beneficiaries is Haxhi Miftari from the village of Kllobçisht in Maqellara, who breeds around 800 beehives organized in 6 different parks, producing quality honey "Made in Albania".
The National Agricultural Support Scheme 2025 provided for funding of 1 thousand lek per hive for 50-150 beehives; 50% funding above the ceiling of 150 hives and 100% funding for each member if grouped in a union of operators with a minimum of 7 members.
The scheme gives priority to these groups, while the remaining funds are distributed proportionally to other applicants.
