Energy Community Treaty - Balluku: Roadmap for Albania in EU approximation
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku participated in the Energy Community Treaty meeting, held in Athens.
Balluku praised the key role that this organization has played for Albania, especially in the last five years, describing it as a strategic guide in the approximation with the European Union.
"The Energy Community Treaty was created 20 years ago, becoming a vital platform for all partner countries. In these 20 years, especially in these last 5 years, starting from 2019, the Energy Community Treaty for Albania became a roadmap. It became a table where we managed to address all the issues, especially those of regional cooperation, where we managed to come closer to the requirements of the European Union, to have a voice to discuss them and through the Energy Secretariat to take these issues to Brussels ," said Balluku.
She emphasized that through this treaty, Albania has managed to address a number of issues, with a particular focus on regional cooperation and approximation with the European regulatory framework.
"Today, when energy is discussed as one of the most important geopolitical issues, today, when Europe is struggling to maintain its capacities, especially to create other renewable energy capacities, Albania undoubtedly has a lot to say, a lot to do and to help other countries that are part of the Western Balkans," said Balluku.
She added that the Energy Secretariat has had an irreplaceable role and that this role will remain essential in the future, to meet the requirements of the Green Agenda and the common energy market.
She also mentioned concrete developments in energy infrastructure, such as connections with North Macedonia and Greece, as well as the ongoing project to build an underwater connection with Italy.
