Fire situation in the country/MoM: 24 fires reported in the last 24 hours, 4 still active!
The Ministry of Defense informed today about the fire situation in the country, where 24 fires have been reported in the last 24 hours, of which 4 are still active.
Fire outbreaks have been identified in the municipalities of: Dibër, Bulqizë, Vau i Dejës, Shkodër, Malësi e Madhe, Pukë, Mallakastër, Fier, Selenica, Finiq, Himarë, Kolonjë, Korçë, Përmet, Dimal, Elbasan, Peqin, Gramsh, Librazhd, Tirana, Kavajë and Kamëz.
The active foci are as follows:
Dibër County – In the area called “Lake of Flowers”, part of the Lura National Park, two hot spots are still active: one on the side of Gurë Lura, and the other area near the water channel of the HPP, which is considered isolated and is under monitoring. The second hot spot, on the side of Mali i Dejës, is widespread and wind-assisted, expanding towards the territory of the Mat municipality.
Dibër County – Bulqizë Municipality – In the area of “Malit të Peladhisë”, Zerqan administrative unit, work continues to extinguish a reactivated fire. So far, about 32 hectares of bushes and grass have been involved. The fire is active only in one fire above the village of Vlash, which is being monitored by operational forces.
Fier Region – The fire in the Drenovë–Gorishovë area, the Qendër Dukas and Cakran units, in the municipalities of Mallakastër and Fier, continues to be active. Due to the rugged terrain, strong winds and the rapid spread of flames, controlling the situation has been difficult. Currently, the fire continues with intensity in the olive grove areas of the village of Gorishovë.
Vlora Region – Himara Municipality – In the village of Borsh, Lukovë administrative unit, a fire broke out in a forest area. The intervention continued until late in the evening, but without being able to completely isolate the hearth. The extinguishing operation is continuing today, with the support of the Armed Forces.
As a result of the fires, over 154 hectares of bushes and vegetation, as well as more than 3,000 olive trees, have been burned.
57 firefighting vehicles and 538 operational forces have been engaged in firefighting operations. Also, yesterday, 2 helicopters, 5 firefighting vehicles and 120 personnel from the Armed Forces were involved. Today, as of 06:00, 50 military troops and 5 firefighting vehicles with support personnel are on the ground.
According to the Institute of Geosciences, no precipitation is expected today. Regarding the risk of forest fires, a "high" level is expected in the regions of Tirana, Elbasan, Fier, Berat, Korçë and Gjirokastër, while a "moderate" level is expected in the other regions.
Civil Protection structures continue to be on full alert throughout the territory to intervene in time and prevent the spread of fires. The Ministry of Fire and Emergency Services calls on all citizens to avoid any action that could cause a fire and to immediately notify emergency services if they detect a fire.
