Traffic under surveillance with new monitoring system - Expert: Real-time information, more free movement
A new guideline has been published in the Official Gazette for real-time traffic information in the country.
After this decision enters into force, the ARA must, within 6 months, prepare and manage data on the road network and traffic.
Through an application (SIT), citizens will be able to see in real time the traffic situation on every road axis in the country.
This initiative comes at a time when the Tirana Traffic Police has decided to tighten the rules for vehicles that park in lanes dedicated to buses and taxis, in emergency lanes, on white lines, or in other spaces that obstruct traffic.
Individuals who park illegally will not only be fined, but will also have their vehicle towed.
These measures aim to ease traffic in the capital.
In this way, the country will be equipped with an updated monitoring system, where information on roads, accidents, restrictions and vehicle flow will be accessible at any time.
Full implementation is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
