While the solar panel subsidy scheme for water heating will also be applied in 2025, TV SCAN has calculated the costs that will have to be borne by household consumers, in the form of co-financing.

This, taking into account that the subsidy includes 70% of the value, while the remaining 30% will have to be paid by subscribers, once they receive confirmation from the Energy Efficiency Agency after submitting the application documents.

Currently, the Agency has opened a call for companies interested in providing the service for the sale and installation of solar panels for water heating.

Meanwhile, it will be the prices offered by them that will determine the exact cost. However, referring to the list of qualified entities in the first program of 2023, on average a panel costs 130,000 lek, of which 70% or 91,000 lek will be covered by the state.

Meanwhile, the remaining portion, 39 thousand lek, are costs that will have to be paid by families interested in benefiting.

The scheme to encourage the use of solar panels for water heating by household customers aims to reduce electricity consumption and improve the supply of hot sanitary water, as well as reduce CO2 emissions.

According to a study conducted by the Energy Regulatory Authority, the cost of water heating accounts for 19% of the electricity bill. Applications for interested household consumers will open on February 24, 2025.
