Which businesses have received the most loans this year? The positions remain unchanged. Trade in first place, followed by construction
"Scan Intel" has analyzed the figures regarding lending over the past year, to understand which segments of the private sector have relied more on banks operating in our country for financing over the past year. In first place, the sector that has received the most loans over the past year is trade, both wholesale and retail, which also includes the repair of vehicles and motorcycles. This sector has received about 95.6 billion lek of new loans over the past year, which translates into about 950 million euros. Even during 2023, this sector was in first place, even though the new loan for the sector was fixed at 80 billion euros, official figures indicate. In second place, meanwhile, we find the construction sector, with about 47 billion lek of new loans, or about 470 million euros.
New loans for construction, but also for trade, have increased significantly compared to 2023, by about 18% for both sectors. As for third place, the positions are unchanged compared to the previous year, where we again find “Manufacturing Industry”, with 27.7 billion lek of new loans. In 4th place we find “Electric Energy”, with 24.3 billion lek, and in 5th place, “Other service activities” with 18.4 billion lek of new loans throughout 2024.
As for the sectors that received the least new loans last year, in last place, with zero funding, we find “International Organizations”. Then follows “Public Administration and Defense; Compulsory Social Security” with only 24 million lek of new loans. At the bottom of the table, with very little funding, important sectors such as: “Agriculture”, “Education”, “Health” or even “Arts” are also listed.
