The British 'invade' the coasts of Albania - The Sun: In the 3 months of summer, bookings have tripled
Not only traditional tourists from countries like Italy and Poland, but Albania is increasingly being visited by other countries as well, according to tourist agencies in the country.
Kristina Gjinaj, tour operator:
"This summer there have been many tourists from traditional countries, such as Italy and Poland, but also from Spain and France. These tourists do not stay in one place for long – 4-5 days maximum – and are always on the move. What is most noticeable are tourists from Great Britain."
For the latter, the British newspaper "The Sun" has written an article where bookings from Britons have tripled during the 3 months of summer in Albania compared to the same period a year ago, with the main impact being cheap prices, starting with tickets from Britain to Albania from just £15 or a glass of wine for just £1.70 on the beaches of Durrës.
"Tourists themselves are selective and choose places where prices are cheaper. So, they go to the beach where it's more expensive and choose to sleep where it's cheaper."
According to INSTAT data, the number of foreign tourists from countries beyond Europe has increased, partly from Asian countries such as India, China and Japan.
