Budget surplus reaches 400 million euros - 5-month period/ Revenues increase by 178 million euros, consumption "leads"
In the first 5 months of the year, the state budget collected around 305.9 billion lek, a realization of 100.2% of the plan for the period.
Compared to the same period a year ago, around 18.7 billion lek or 187 million euros more were collected, while the surplus level resulted in around 40.41 billion lek.
The tax administration's collections for the period January - May 2025 amounted to 110.8 billion lek, 16.8 billion lek or 17.9% more than January - May 2024. And 5.3 billion lek more than planned.
VAT collections, which are a direct indicator of consumption, had the best performance, with a registered increase of 31.5% compared to the previous year. In total, 30.5 billion lek were collected from this item. Meanwhile, the plan was exceeded by 11.5%.
Revenues from personal income tax also performed well, with an increase of 27.2%, with a total of 34.1 billion lek collected, influenced by the increase in salaries and the declaration of DIVA.
Revenues from Special Funds, which include revenues from social and health insurance, also increased by 8 billion lek or 12.2% more than in the first 5 months of 2024, and 73.5 billion lek were collected.
Revenues from profit tax and national taxes have also increased.
Customs revenues were realized at 92.7 billion lek, 3 billion lek or 3.3% more than January - May 2024.
The best performance in customs revenues was achieved by collections from excise goods, which amounted to 25.7 billion lek, 2.6 billion lek or 11.2% more than the same period in 2024.
Meanwhile, revenues from VAT on imports and mining royalties have experienced a slight increase.
Revenues from customs duties, for the period January - May 2025, were collected in the amount of 3.7 billion lek, 150 million lek or 4.2% more than January - May 2024, as well as a realization of 88.6% against the plan for the period.
Total public spending, for the 5-month period of 2025, reached around 265.52 billion lekë with a realization of 95.4% of the plan for the period.
Current expenditures, for the 5-month period of 2025, resulted in about 243.42 billion lek, while compared to the same period of a year, capital expenditures resulted in about 21.23 billion lek, while compared to the same period of a year ago, this item resulted in 2.2% higher or about 461 million lek more.
