Joint exercise RENEA-EKAM/ Lamallari: Albania-Greece cooperation is key to regional security

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Besfort Lamallari, participated in the ceremony marking the end of the joint training between the special forces of the State Police, RENEA, and the elite Greek police unit EKAM.
In his speech, Minister Lamallari praised the role of this special unit, emphasizing that for years RENEA has been a symbol of discipline, courage and sacrifice in the service of citizens. According to him, the members of this force are on the front line in dealing with the most difficult situations, from the fight against organized crime to terrorist threats and any danger that threatens the lives of citizens. Lamallari emphasized that the cooperation between the two special units is not only a joint training, but a broader process of exchange of experience and building trust between the two police forces.
"This training is much more than an exercise. It is cooperation, sharing of experience and a trust that grows between you, proving that the State Police and the Greek police can further strengthen cooperation to address common challenges," he declared.
The Minister also underlined the importance of relations between Tirana and Athens in the field of security, describing this cooperation as essential not only for the two countries, but also for the stability of the region.
Challenges such as organized crime, terrorism and transnational crimes, said Minister Lamallari, require close cooperation between countries, especially in the context of European integration. In this context, he emphasized that Albania has made significant progress in the fight against crime and that the State Police deserves to have a dignified role in the European platform of special units ATLAS Network.
Lamallari expressed his commitment to further strengthen cooperation between the Albanian police and their Greek counterparts, emphasizing that this is one more guarantee for the security of the citizens of both countries and the entire region.
"I would just like to thank you for the service you provide every day, both in Albania and your colleagues in Greece, and it is a pleasure and an honor to be the head of this very important ministry, which includes elite teams such as RENEA and EKAM in the case of the Greek counterparts, who are the embodiment of the noble mission of the police of both countries, who certainly go to the extent of sacrificing themselves to guarantee the order and security of citizens and the region," said the Minister of Internal Affairs, Besfort Lamallari.
