The state enters the oil market to curb prices - Rama: We will create a public factor to ease the burden of citizens

The state will intervene to regulate the oil market, given the increase in prices due to the conflict in the Middle East. In a press conference, Prime Minister Edi Rama stated that the government will create a public factor to ease the burden on citizens.
"The crisis is emerging all over the world and here, due to the increase in oil prices. One of our objectives is to create a new factor in the oil market, a state factor that will ease the burden on citizens. We will create the public factor in the oil market. Very soon we will set an example that even in the oil market, things will change. Under the state guarantee, it will be much easier to have an agreement... The reserve should go to 3 months, but this is no longer enough as a security measure, but it is not enough ," said Rama.
Regarding the cancellation of the tender for the new port in Porto Romano, the Prime Minister stated once again that the company withdrew as a result of the crisis in the Middle East and the increase in prices, while emphasizing that there was no pressure from internationals to withdraw.
"The company that has gone through all the phases and made the final bid has withdrawn due to the crisis. There has been no expressed concern from either the US or the EU, but there has been pressure from other uninterested factors for this port to be a success story. The Royal Haskoning company has prepared all the terms of reference and was interested the first time, but there were very strong criteria and this time the crisis occurred. The company has given the argument of the crisis and the prices, if the situation does not change, then we will have a very difficult time building with the prices we have currently set ," the Prime Minister emphasized.
According to the Prime Minister, the existing port, which is located in the middle of the city of Durrës, does not have any capacity to be a logistics hub for Corridor VIII.
