Safety in the tourist season/ Proda: Albanian-Italian patrols in the coastal area of Durrës!
The Director General of the State Police, Major General Ilir Proda, and the Ambassador of Italy to Albania, Marco Alberti, paid a visit to Durrës today, where they met the joint Albanian-Italian patrols operating in the coastal area.
Joint patrols, now a tradition of partnership and friendship, as well as a model of cooperation, aim to increase public safety at points with high tourist flows.
It also aims to strengthen international police cooperation in the service of citizens, create a safe climate for Italian vacationers who choose Albania as a destination, and facilitate communication with foreign visitors and tourists.
The start of the patrols was welcomed by the Director General of the State Police, Major General Ilir Proda, and by the Ambassador of Italy to Albania, Marco Alberti, who were accompanied during the visit to Durrës by the Security Expert at the Italian Embassy in Tirana, Salvatore Gava, and by the Director of the Durrës Local Police Directorate, Vilson Bala.
During his welcoming speech, Proda stated that "security is the passport of our country's image and, in this regard, your presence on the ground is a clear message: Albania is safe, welcoming and open."
"Joint patrolling is a successful model of international cooperation and a concrete guarantee for the safety of citizens and tourists," he added.
Meanwhile, the Italian ambassador thanked the State Police for the joint work. " This cooperation is not one-sided. Women and men of the Albanian Police will soon be present in Italy, as our goal is to intensify the exchange of professional skills and experiences between the two police forces," he said.
At the end of the visit, Proda guaranteed the ambassador that the State Police will continue to strengthen cooperation with international partners, not only during the tourist season, but also in the face of common challenges in the field of order and security.
