How are women supported through gender budgeting? - Sulçe: The unpaid

Gender budgeting is an approach that aims to integrate a gender perspective into the public budgeting process, while focusing on analyzing how government expenditures and revenues affect women and men in different ways. In the show Economy 3D, it was discussed about the support given to women through this budgeting. But in Albania, do we have a good division of gender budgeting?

"In general, in terms of the issues that are examined in the budget program, it is noted that there is also a match between the medium-term goals that are presented by the Gender Equality Strategy 2021-2030 and the Action Plan. There is a good connection between the obligations arising in this strategy and the way these resources are budgeted in the PBA. Of course there is room for improvement, indeed Albania is a model country in the region in terms of the application of gender budgeting and the dedicated assistance of UN Women."

According to a study by UN Women, the unpaid work of women is estimated at 324.4 million euros per year. According to Sulçe, this money is missing from the Albanian economy, and if women were in the labor market, this money would be generated. One of the problems that accompanies every year is the women employed in agriculture.

"Other policies are very necessary in terms of the agricultural sector. About 44% of women are employed in the agricultural sector. Which means that the workforce is there, and there is work to be done to relieve them. And let's not deal only with agriculture, but also with other sectors. With professional courses to integrate.”

But how do women become part of budget decision-making and how is their voice heard?
