"Albania, cheaper than the region" - Numbeo: Energy and water, we pay 8,550 ALL/month
Including electricity, drinking water, heating and cooling, the monthly expenses of an Albanian family reach an average of 8,550 Lek or about 85 euros.
These expenses, according to a report published by Numbeo at the beginning of the year, make Albania one of the countries with the lowest costs in the region for these services, ranking it second after Kosovo, although the difference with the neighboring country is minimal, only 2 euros.
After Kosovo and Albania, Montenegro ranks third, with a difference of about 25 euros more in monthly expenses for basic services.
Further, the list continues with North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Croatia, where the costs for these services reach almost double what is paid in Albania.
Although currently an average family spends around 85 euros per month for these services, the situation is expected to improve further.
Starting in February, the price of electricity, which constitutes the majority of these expenses, will decrease following the latest decision of the Energy Regulatory Authority.
This price reduction brings the total monthly cost below 80 euros, according to new forecasts. This is expected to be reflected in future reports, further improving Albania's position in regional comparisons for living costs.
