All national road segments are open and passable, but the use of winter tires or chains is recommended on the axes with the presence of snow.
The Albanian Road Authority has updated the situation, after the difficulties created on some roads as a result of the weather, stressing that the work groups with snow removal tools have continued without interruption with the cleaning of the roads from snow and the distribution of salt to avoid frost.
The ARA has listed several axes in the northern, central and Korça regions where the use of winter tires and chains is recommended, while adding that vehicles with summer tires create problems in vehicle circulation, block the road and become an obstacle even for snowplows.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education and Sports announced the temporary suspension of classes in 77 schools in some areas of the country due to severe weather conditions. The suspension would last until further notice.
According to MAS, the situation is problematic in some schools in the areas of Bulqiza, Mati, Dibra, Kruja, Has, Kukës, Mirdita, Kurbin, Puka, etc., while the teachers will be replaced in the coming weeks.
"This decision was taken to guarantee the safety of students, teachers and educational personnel in the areas most affected by bad weather", - the ministry's announcement states, among other things.
