Albania-Kosovo, no border controls - Starting from May 1 for citizens of both countries
Starting tomorrow, May 1st, the agreement between the Governments of Kosovo and Albania, which provides for the facilitation of border procedures for vehicles with license plates of both countries, will be restored. Based on this agreement, border controls will not be carried out, enabling rapid and unrestricted movement.
Citizens of Albania and Kosovo will pass through the Morina and Vërmica border crossings with expedited procedures throughout 9 months of the year and on holiday weekends.
The free movement agreement signed between Kosovo and Albania in the spring of last year avoided traffic and facilitated border movement during the summer season.
This season too, the facilitation of procedures will be implemented during nine months of the year, specifically from May 1 to September 30, and from November 1 to February 28 of the following year. During this period of facilitated circulation, there will be no passport or identity card checks for citizens of the two countries.
Meanwhile, travelers crossing the border through the joint Albania-Kosovo points are required to present identification documents until Wednesday at midnight, due to the need for accurate processing and registration of vehicle data.
To cope with the increased flow of travelers, border authorities in both countries have engaged all available counters, in order to avoid long waits and guarantee the fastest and most efficient crossing.
