The structure of the 2025-2026 school year is published - When does school start and when will the national exams take place?
The structure of the 2025-2026 school year in the pre-university education system has been published in the Official Gazette. According to the decision, in basic education the school year begins on September 8, 2025 and ends on June 12, 2026. As for the winter holidays, they will be from December 22, 2025 and will end on January 2, 2026.
Referring to the decision, the national basic education exams will be held between June 15-26, 2026.
For the Matura exams, classes begin on September 8, 2025 and end on May 29, 2026, while the State Matura exams will take place between June 1-26, 2026.
On the other hand, in vocational education, the dates vary according to a structure. Classes will begin for all cycles on September 8, 2025. Meanwhile, for students in the 2+2 and 4-year cycles, classes will end on June 12, while for students in grades 11 and 12, classes will end on May 29, 2026. For high school graduates pursuing vocational education, classes will end on May 15, 2026, and the State Vocational Matura exams will be held on June 1–26, 2026.
According to the decision, the final exams for professional qualifications of levels II and III of the Albanian Qualifications Framework (AQF) will be held in the period 1–12 June 2026. The final exams for professional practice of level V professional qualifications of the AQF will be held in the period 25–29 May 2026.
