Denaj: With the 4th mandate, we guarantee 100% irrigation of agricultural land
Thanks to the government's increased attention to investing in irrigation and drainage infrastructure, the area of irrigated land in the country has doubled since 2013, increasing from 120,000 hectares to 270,000 hectares in 2024.
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Anila Denaj, in a post on social networks emphasizes that, "with the 4th mandate, we guarantee 100% irrigation of agricultural land, or 360 thousand irrigable hectares."
According to her, these investments will translate into more production, more income for farmers and the fulfillment of the ambitious target of 1 billion euros in agricultural exports by the end of this decade.
Meanwhile, the 2025 budget provides funding for increasing the number of flood protection works rehabilitated/constructed (longitudinal embankments and transverse embankments), from 38 works in 2024, to 48 works in 2025.
