CEC starts testing electronic voting and counting - Celibashi: Over 70 thousand

"In the municipality of Vora and Unit 10 in Tirana, in the parliamentary elections of May 11, citizens will have the opportunity to vote through the electronic process. But how will they vote through this process? First, when the device is green, we will press it to start the voting process electronically, and the list of political party coalitions for the positions we want to vote for will appear on the screen. Then we continue to the second ballot, where the candidates are. The vote will be confirmed if it is the correct choice of the vote. Once confirmed, the vote is printed and placed in the voter's box."

Chief Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi, speaking to journalists regarding the diaspora voting process, stated that so far over 70,000 emigrants have returned their ballots for the May 11 parliamentary elections.

"There are over 70 thousand voters who have returned their ballots out of over 245 thousand registered. We are waiting for the arrival of other ballots. We are waiting for the postal company to distribute all the ballots, the envelopes. There are still 30 thousand ballots left and a few to be distributed, there are almost 2 weeks left and we are waiting for them to be distributed"

The Chief Commissioner evaluates this process with positive marks, as it is the first time it has been undertaken by the CEC.
