Rama: Cameras for 200 km of national roads - Surveillance in 20 cities, investment according to agreement with the United Arab Emirates
200 km of national roads and 20 cities with a focus on road traffic will be monitored with cameras, with the aim of identifying violations and violators. During the event where the findings of the survey to measure citizen perception on the level of security in the country and trust in the State Police were presented, Prime Minister Edi Rama announced the details of the project, which according to him will come to the aid of police officers.
"A system based on the latest digital technology, enriched with Artificial Intelligence that will provide real-time capabilities to the State Police, through the monitoring rooms of all cities that will initially have this system. It will start with 20 cities if I'm not mistaken, just as the investment will soon begin for the same system to enter national roads. It will start with the first 200 kilometers and that system will provide the opportunity for every complaint of every citizen to be verifiable in real time, even when the citizen complains rightly, and when the citizen has the opportunity to make a phone call to vent his anger at a neighbor, etc., but these are part of life. The system verifies not simply with general photographs but verifies the person, name, surname and his entire file in terms of criminal precedents ," the prime minister said.
Rama said that funding has already been secured.
"This is an extraordinary project that we have finally secured funding for, and in collaboration with our partners in the United Arab Emirates, we will begin implementing it," he said.
Meanwhile, as previously announced, the monitoring of the first 200 kilometers includes the Tirana-Elbasan road axis, the entire axis from Tirana to Vlora, as well as the Vora segment - "Mother Teresa" airport.
