Modernization of payment systems - An important step towards strengthening the country's financial integration with the European market
The Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko, received in a meeting the new representative of the World Bank Office in Albania, Massimiliano Paolucci.
The Governor stated that, although uncertainty in the global context remains high, decisions regarding monetary policy are conditioned by new information and will always be in line with the objective of price stability, as well as consistent with the direction of fiscal policy and the performance of the exchange rate.
Another issue addressed during the meeting was the modernization of payment systems in Albania, as an important step towards strengthening the country's financial integration with the European market.
Paolucci congratulated the Bank of Albania for the work carried out for the country's successful membership in SEPA. Beyond the benefits for citizens, businesses and the economy as a whole, this membership creates the necessary preconditions for Albania's preparation for full integration into the EU.
The parties agreed to continue the efforts that the Bank of Albania has devoted to improving the regulatory framework of the financial system. Paolucci stated that the World Bank remains always ready to provide its assistance.
