How should civil society be structured in EU integration? - Ibrahimaj: Our goal is to create an Economic Council in Albania
European Dialogue, civil society and European integration were the topics discussed at the meeting organized by the French Embassy and the Institute for Cooperation and Development.
This meeting was also attended by the President of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council, Thierry Beaudet, who presented the main recommendations of the report, prepared by the Economic, Social and Environmental Council in close consultation with Albanian stakeholders on possible scenarios for structuring the tripartite dialogue between the government and social stakeholders.
The report proposes the creation of a single institution to increase the effectiveness of consultations and to contribute tangibly to ongoing reforms.
“Organized civil society plays an essential role in strengthening democracy, the rule of law and trust between public authorities and citizens. The report I submitted to the Prime Minister presents proposals for structuring this dialogue, developing it in cooperation between civil society organizations and public authorities .”
Meanwhile, according to Minister Ibrahimaj, the creation of an Economic, Social and Environmental Council in our country will improve the climate between institutions, the private sector and civil society.
“Our goal is to create an Economic, Social and Environmental Council in Albania, a structure that will guarantee a regular and sustainable dialogue between state institutions, the private sector and civil society. The model of success of the KESM in France serves as an important example of how we can institutionalize this dialogue and turn it into a force that directly influences the design and implementation of policies.”
Meanwhile, representatives from the private sector, civil society, and European Union member states emphasized that a strong commitment is needed to deepen civic engagement and strengthen institutional dialogue, paving the way for a more inclusive and effective EU membership process.
