OSHEE, 296.5 million lek from late payment interest - Collections for January - April, the value of late payments decreased compared to the previous year
Late payment of electricity bills by consumers has increased the revenues of the Electricity Distribution Operator. According to official data, in the period January - April, this department collected about 296.5 million lek from interest on late payments from households, businesses, budgetary and non-budgetary institutions.
Compared to the first four months of last year, the value collected from interest has decreased, given that for the same period last year, this department collected around 298 million lek, or 1.5 million lek more than this year.
In total, for the 4-month period, the Electricity Distribution Operator generated 1,363,923 invoices for which late payment interest was collected. The number of invoices for which late payment interest was paid, compared to the same period last year, has also decreased, as in the period January - April 2024 the number of invoices paid late was 1,432,653.
According to the contract that OSHEE has signed with its customers, the deadline for settling invoices is the last day of the following month. Meanwhile, failure to pay the monthly obligation within the specified deadline is accompanied by a late payment interest, which is calculated at the rate of 0.1% of the total invoice, for each day of delay. Then, if the consumed energy continues to be unpaid, the contract provides for an escalation of penalties that go up to the interruption of electricity.
