Government plan, modern and inclusive education - Curricula, close to the labor market and more technology in schools
In the field of education, in the medium-term budget program 2026-2028, the Ministry of Education and Sports will finance as a priority: Increasing the number of children attending preschool education. One of the main objectives of this program is to increase inclusion in preschool education, with the aim of better preparing children from the early stages of development.
Likewise, the reduction of collective classes in pre-university education, especially in rural and remote areas, will be financially supported to guarantee teaching quality and enable more individualized learning.
The Ministry has also planned to cover transportation costs for around 35,000 children and students who live more than 2 kilometers from school, as well as for around 12,000 teachers who travel more than 5 kilometers to their workplace. This measure aims to ease the economic burden on families and promote more equal access to education.
In support of students from disadvantaged backgrounds, the Ministry will provide financial scholarships or food support to 3,800 to 4,000 students with special needs and children at risk of dropping out of school. This is an important step towards reducing school dropout and social inclusion in pre-university education.
On the other hand, work will continue on opening branches of the best international universities in Albania, as well as joint/double degree programs. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education will support the opening of English-language programs in all Albanian universities.
Referring to the document, in the field of education, the development of educational reforms will continue, supporting basic, secondary and higher education, orienting curricula towards the needs of the labor market and their modernization, professional development of teachers through training, and the promotion and expansion of information and communication technology in education.
