Where is the most money made from Airbnb? - The coast dominates, inland cities lag behind
Tourism continues to bring not only vacationers, but also huge profits for owners of coastal apartments. Vlora and Durres are the two undisputed Airbnb champions in Albania, dominating the list of profits from tourist rentals.
According to Airbnb's own data, Vlora leads with an average annual profit of 11,000 euros per property, followed by Durrës with 10,000 euros, leaving behind every other city in the country. This is directly related to the tourist influx during the summer season and the continuous increase in the quality of the offer in these coastal areas.
In third place is Tirana, with around 8,500 euros in profit per year, reflecting the continuous population growth that has occurred in the capital over the last decade.
Shkodra and Shëngjin emerge as positive surprises in the north of the country, with earnings of 7,300 and 5,400 euros per year respectively, indicating increased interest in these destinations.
Meanwhile, cities like Korça and Berat, although with high tourist potential and important cultural values, report more modest profits of 4,000 and 4,200 euros per year. This may be related to seasonality and the still-developing infrastructure in these areas.
Overall, Airbnb is turning into a concrete profit opportunity for all those who own properties in Albania's tourist areas. With a market that has quadrupled from 2021 to 2025, from 6,000 to over 24,000 listed properties.
