Unapproved inspections of the National Agency for Employment and Social Affairs are suspended - Minister Denaj: The evaluation of inspectors will begin
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Anila Denaj, during a meeting with the rector and professors of the Agricultural University of Tirana, announced that the exercise of the activity of inspections by the National Agency for Agriculture, without prior planning and those not approved, has been suspended.
"Guaranteeing food safety is a legal obligation for the Ministry of Agriculture and its subordinate institutions. It is a great responsibility to react and reflect on all issues. In immediate response and taking into account a significant increase in complaints from food-related entities, and brought on the basis of complaints from the AKU inspection body, the unjustified lack of their operational plans, preparation for the full implementation of the law on inspections in the Republic of Albania. To guarantee transparency, I have ordered the suspension of the exercise of inspection activities without prior planning and those not approved."
On the other hand, Minister Denaj has ordered the establishment of a special evaluation commission with 5 members, 3 of whom are from the Agricultural University of Tirana.
This 5-member committee, with a majority from the University, will conduct a written and oral evaluation of current NFA inspectors, as well as new applicants for jobs at the National Food Agency.
