The weight of bread in industry - Hoxha: The basket of consumed products is poor
Industry in our country, even during 2024, has remained modest. The Industrial Products Survey, published by INSTAT, shows that the largest increase in sales and production compared to the previous year is in copper, but what stands out is the sale and production of bread and processed meat products.
According to the Institute of Statistics, the production of sausages and similar meat products reached 13 thousand tons in 2024, up from 12.5 thousand tons a year earlier.
The value of sales increased slightly, from 9.05 billion lek to 9.26 billion lek, marking a moderate increase in the consumption of processed meat products.
Bread consumption has also increased compared to 2023, reaching nearly 7 billion lek, competing with those products needed in the sector that drives the domestic economy, construction.
But what does this say about the economy?
