Energy production in the country falls - Consumption does not change, generation is divided equally between KESH and private companies
The lack of rainfall has not favored the production of electricity for the period January - August of this year. According to data from the Energy Regulatory Authority, during the 8-month period, about 4.7 million mWh were produced, marking a decrease compared to a year ago, where for the same period about 5.4 million mWh of energy was generated. The same data show that the production was divided equally between the hydropower plants of the Drini Cascade (50.5%) and private producers.
In parallel, production from solar power plants, including the Karavasta one, has also continued. In total, the energy generated from the sun for the 8-month period was 272,894 mWh, an amount dominated by the production of the Karavasta park with almost 73% of the total solar energy.
Total energy consumption for the 8-month period reached around 5.57 million mWh of energy, a level almost identical to that consumed in the period January-August last year, where consumption was recorded at 5.47 million mWh.
The level of losses in the distribution network for the 8-month period was recorded at 16.44%, marking an improvement compared to the same period last year, where losses were calculated at 17.56%. As for the level of collections, it is fixed at 98.3%, while for the same period last year this indicator was 99.3% of invoices generated by OSHEE.
