Changes in the pension scheme, Rama: Special fund for those who want higher pensions

Prime Minister Edi Rama has warned of interventions in the pension scheme. During his speech at the Socialist Party Assembly in Lezha, he announced that the goal is to create a special fund for those who want to have a higher pension.
"We knew that it was the weakest point, the weakest link in the entire social skeleton of Albania and of course, having great support from pensioners, we have always been aware that something definitely had to be done for pensioners, but we have not had the opportunity to do it. Not long ago this morning we were discussing several other important interventions for pensions, which we have not had the opportunity to do before, including the start of the creation of a special pension fund for those who want to have the highest pension, where the state will make a contribution equal to the contribution that the person will make and that contribution is there and increases until the person retires, for example. But where have we had the opportunity to do these? And if we have it today, we have the economy growing", - he said.
Among other things, he also spoke about the ambition to increase Gross Domestic Product to 35 billion lek in 2030.
"We took the economy of this country from less than 10 billion in gross domestic product. Today, as we speak, we have brought it to nearly 27 billion. We want to bring it to 35 billion by 2030. It is doable. It is doable!", he said.
