"Oil in agriculture is covered through a 10% refund" - Deputy Minister

Farmers will be supported this year for the purchase of agricultural inputs in order to reduce their costs and increase production. Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Fatmir Guri, emphasizes that now support for oil, which is among the main inputs in production, will be provided through a 10% refund of sales invoices.

"Support for oil continues to be a support to help farmers. In the EU there is an instrument for compensating input invoices which ranges from 3 to 6 percent. Starting this year, we have compensation for sales invoices at the level of 10 percent. So, support for inputs is carried out primarily at the level of compensating auto invoices at the level of 10% and not only for oil, but for all inputs. We have made a calculation whether the 10% comes out or not. And we have concluded that the 10% rewards not only the inputs that farmers use, but also different scenarios that we have built if all the inputs that the farmer uses increase by 10%, 20%, 30%, even 40%. So in all cases this measure which is 10% of sales invoices compensates and exceeds the increase in prices by almost half."

In addition to input support, this year there will also be direct support for cultivation, up to 100 euros per hectare.

"What does this mean? This means that input support continues to be a support that we have in the instruments for 2026, including for oil. Beyond that, as far as arable crops are concerned, which are those that use oil the most as their production inputs, the scheme has integrated a new measure, which is the support measure of 100 euros per hectare. So the reward exists, it is more complete than it was with the scheme that only had the title of the oil scheme last year."

The agricultural support scheme for 2026 has changed, aiming to cover a wider range of farmers through the 52 million euro fund.
