"Approve the status of the miner" - Tabaku: Special social protection. SP MPs: Populist bill
Democratic Party MP Jorida Tabaku has requested the approval of the status of miners, to ensure special social protection and improved working conditions for this professional group. Following previous efforts by other political groups, the approval of this law would enable preferential treatment in terms of pensions, working conditions, health care, etc.
During the discussion in parliamentary committees, the Deputy Ministers of Economy and Health argued that this category currently has a number of special benefits.
Meanwhile, the majority MPs expressed their support for the need to approve the status, but not Tabaku's draft law, which they considered populist.
The explanatory report of the draft law argues that 13,300 people would benefit from the approval of the status, while the financial effect is estimated at 1.27 billion lek.
