"Added measures for the tourist season" - Lamallari: We guarantee safety and prevent accidents

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Besfort Lamallari, presented the measures taken by the State Police and the structures responsible for the smooth running of the 2026 summer tourist season, emphasizing ensuring security, managing flows and providing the most friendly service possible for tourists visiting Albania.
Minister Lamallari emphasized that "Albania is experiencing an increase in the number of tourists from Europe and beyond from year to year, which requires special measures to guarantee public order and security throughout the territory."
"In this context, the State Police has planned to increase police presence in tourist areas, on beaches and in mountain destinations, as well as organize dedicated patrols and 12-hour services during the period July 1 - August 31, 2026. At the same time, provisional police stations will be established near areas of high tourist interest, specifically in Valbona, Theth, Koman, Tale, Lalëzit Bay and Ksamil, while traffic control and flow management at border points will be strengthened," the minister stated.
Minister Lamallari also highlighted the further improvement of passenger processing procedures at the country's entry, highlighting the success of the use of electronic gates "e-gates" at Rinas International Airport, which have significantly reduced waiting times. According to him, the same technology will also be extended to the ports of Durrës and Saranda, with the aim of facilitating border procedures without compromising security standards.
The focus of the measures for the tourist season is also the full operationalization of the maritime police unit, which will monitor and control the most frequented coastal areas of the country. According to Minister Lamallari, all these measures aim not only to guarantee public safety, but also to strengthen the image of Albania as a safe, welcoming and modern tourist destination.
